VAGUES: MFWAM model from Météo-France zone R3000_MASCA01 - Data of the 2025-06-04
Météo-France MFWAM wave data updated on: 03-06-2025T18:00Z

This product contains the wave forecasts, computed with wave models MFWAM (Météo-France) and Wavewatch III ®.
The displayed variables are the significant height, direction and peak period for the total sea, wind sea, primary and secondary swells (3-hour time steps).
Météo-France MFWAM wave model’s results available on data.shom are computed by using grid of different resolutions: a global 0.5° resolution grid (GLOB05), a european 0.1° resolution grid (EURAT01) and regional 0.1° resolution grids for French West Indies , Guyane and Réunion/Mayotte (Indian ocean) areas.
Outputs are provided from day D to D+2 (oversea areas)/D+4 (metropolitan France), with a 3h step.
The data.shom.fr visualisation consists of a spatial aggregation of forecasts at different resolutions:
- global scale: MFWAM model on a 0.5°x0.5° grid, forced by the ECMWF IFS-CEP weather model (GLOB05 grid);
- European regional scale: MFWAM model on a 0.1°x0.1° grid, forced by the Météo-France Arpege weather model (EURAT01 grid);
- Antilles-Guyane regional scale: MFWAM model on a 0.1°x0.1° grid, forced by the ECMWF's IFS-CEP meteorological model (ANGUY01 grid from GLOB0125);
- Indian Ocean regional scale: MFWAM model, on a 0.1°x0.1° grid, forced by the Météo-France Arome Outre-Mer weather model supplemented by the IFS-CEP model (MASCA01 grid);
- coastal scale in the metropolitan France: Wavewatch III model ® on unstructured grids with resolutions varying from 10km offshore to about 400-200m at the coast. This model is forced by the meteorological model Arpege of Météo-France (EURAT01 grid, and by MFWAM spectra of regional patterns for offshore areas;
- coastal scale in the Antilles-Guyana and Mayotte-Reunion areas: Wavewatch III model ® on unstructured grids with resolutions varying 10km offshore to about 200-100m at the coast. This model is forced by the meteorological model « Arome Outre-Mer » of Météo-France, and by MFWAM spectra of regional patterns for offshore areas.
The forecasts are updated twice a day. For the global area, Europe and metropolitan France, forecasts are provided with 3-hour steps until D+4 (00h00UTC) for MFWAM and D+3 (00h00UTC) for Wavewatch III ®. For the French overseas areas, forecasts are provided with 3-hour steps until D+2 (18h00UTC) for MFWAM and for Wavewatch III ®.
data.shom.fr allows to download the current MFWAM data (D day, GRIB format).
