Tide tables
This product proposes pre-computed tidal predictions (times and heights of high and low tide with tidal coefficients if available). For ports in mainland France, data are provided in local time, i.e. adjusted for summer and winter time. Tide table data are issued in three formats (PDF, XML and TXT) for publishing and reproduction by printers, associations and advertising agencies. A contract must be signed for this purpose. This product mainly covers French coasts, both in mainland France and for French overseas territories.

Shom continuously measures values using an extended observation network set up along the coast, in order to better specify tidal characteristics worldwide. On this basis, tidal parameters (harmonic constituents) are regularly updated and forecasts are computed to the best possible precision (a few centimetres for heights and a few minutes for times) using this database, based on knowledge acquired at each site. However, the tide table forecasts can differ substantially from actual tides due to sea level variations caused by low pressure systems within a fairly large radius around the port in question. The two Shom tide tables include official tide forecasts for shipping and French ports on the mainland and overseas. The Volume 2 tide table also includes official tide forecasts for other sites, particularly for the main ports in coastal States with French involvement in the supply of hydrographic services in application of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).
