You will find the button to print in the header.

This functionality allows you to obtain a layout of the map on the screen containing:

In the map background the Shom layers displayed in the catalog;
The drawing layer;
The map scale;
The citation of the sources;
The legend of the map (if it is displayed);
The title of the map (if it has been filled in);
The description of the map (if it has been filled in);
The grid (if the option has been checked).

After clicking on the "Print map" button, a window opens to add a title or a description to your printout. This information is not mandatory.

When you click on "Print" a new tab opens with the page to be printed and the print dialog box of the browser you are using.

Please note that in order to print the legend of your drawing, it must be visible on the map.

Some functionalities are available with a right-click on the map.

Adding objects to the legend

Once you have added an object to the drawing layer, you can add it to the legend. To do this, right-click on the object and select "Add this object to the legend". A line is added to the legend, using the symbology chosen for the object, and you can change the caption by clicking on "Caption text", which is displayed by default. You can delete a line from the legend by clicking on the bin icon at the end of the line.

Undo/Redo

You can undo the last actions performed on the map by clicking on "Undo" in the right-click menu or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Z.
By default, the "Redo" button is greyed out, so as soon as you undo an action you can redo it. This can also be done using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Y.

Copy/Paste

It is possible to copy and paste any object already drawn on the map.
To copy an object, select it by clicking on it, right-click and click 'Copy'. Then right-click where you want to paste the object and click "Paste". The centre of the object will be positioned where you right-clicked.

You can also copy and paste using the Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V keyboard shortcuts. In the case of 'paste' by keyboard shortcut, the object is pasted next to the one copied.

When you right-click on several overlapping objects, you will be asked which object you want to copy.

Object hierarchy

Change the plane of your superimposed objects by moving them forwards or backwards.

By moving the circle to the foreground, it can now be selected and modified if required.

As with copy/paste, when you right-click on several superimposed objects, you are asked to specify which object you want to move forward or back.

Sharing your view through the sharing tools considers the following elements:

The map's footprint;
The zoom level;
All added layers (even external ones);
The transparency and the display order of the layers;
The drawings created in the Drawing tool in display.

Note: in the shared map the drawings are not editable but appear as a data layer in "My maps". To share editable objects, you can export them in KML, they are importable in Drawing and therefore editable.

It is possible to measure distances, areas and azimuth distances on the map.

To do this, in the "Drawing and measurements" menu, check "Measurement tools" to make them appear on the map. Then choose the type of measurement.

Cliquez ensuite sur la carte pour positionner les points de votre mesure. Le résultat est dynamique et s’affiche à côté du curseur de la souris en kilomètres (km) et milles nautiques (nq).

The measurement continues to update until you end the shape with a double-click.

To make another measurement, end the current one with a double-click and click on the map again to start a new one. Or change the type of measurement.

Uncheck "Measurement Tools" to remove the tool pop-up from the map.

Note: the calculation method used is the Vincenty algorithm, which measures the distance between 2 points at the surface of a spheroid. This algorithm gives more precise results than the great circle route, which assumes that the Earth is spherical.

Creating a data.shom.fr account allows you to save your drawings so that you can open them later.
The account is free and shared with the Shom shop: a single account is all you need to connect on both sites.

From any data.shom.fr page, click on the silhouette icon.

Click on "Create an account".

Fill the mandatory fields and click on "Créer un compte".

A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you entered. Click on the email confirmation link.

This takes you to the shop, where you are logged in. You will receive an email informing you that your registration has been successful.

With the same identifiers (email address and password) you can connect to data.shom.fr.
