Au-delà, dans les grands fonds, la précision verticale est majoritairement de l ordre de 1 à 2% de la profondeur du fond. Parfois, elle est plus élevée selon la technologie utilisée. Les données sont référencées au 057 France - Sein (ile) Nord (ZH) qui est assimilé à la Plus Basse Mer Astronomique (PBMA). Les données sont corrigées des variations de la célérité du son dans l eau.
